Core Muscle Exercise – How Does It Work?
There are many core muscle exercise programs available, but the main key to keep in mind is to keep it simple. Core exercises help to strengthen and develop muscles that are a part of your everyday living function.
These are stabilizing muscles that help to keep your spine stable, your neck, and your entire body. Whenever you move your body, the movement comes from the core and radiates outward. The core is what you are working to develop and strengthen.
Core Exercises
The most effective method to engage your core muscles is to do core muscle exercise. These muscles have to work together as one unit, contracting simultaneously, all across your joints, so that the spine can be stabilized.
Simple body weight exercises are some of the best core muscle exercises to do. Here is a list of exercises;
- Superman – Lay face down on a work out pad or mat, stretching your arms above your head. Raise your left arm and right leg about six inches off the floor. Hold this position for four seconds and then relax. Repeat this with the opposite leg and arm.
- Lunge with twisting motion – Stand with your legs feet about shoulder with apart. Hold a medicine ball in front of you. Be sure that your elbows are bent at a ninety degree angle.
Next, go forward with your left food and lunge. Do not twist at the knee. Twist your upper body to the right from your torso. Next, reach across your right side. Be sure to stretch your arms out.
Keep a controlled and slow movement throughout these core exercises. Move your arms to the center and slowly move forward with the other foot and then twist to the opposite side. Do this for ten steps. Next, complete three sets. This is one of the most popular core exercises.
- Twisting Oblique – This is an excellent core muscle exercise for your sides. Sit on the floor and bend your knees. Sit at a forty-five degree angle and contract your abdominals.
Hold your medicine ball in front of you with both hands. Twist very slow from your torso to the left and let the medicine ball touch the floor next to you, while contracting your abs. Smoothly, but rapidly twist your torso, while contracting your abs. Touch your medicine ball to the opposite side. Repeat.
Do You Need Special Machines?
In order to begin doing your core muscle exercise, you do not need any machines. If you want to work up to the advanced level, then there is some equipment available that can help you to develop your core strength. Pilate’s, Yoga, wobble boards, kettle bells, medicine balls, and stability balls all can be used in working your core muscle exercise.
Doing these core exercises will not only improve your posture, but can help reduce back pain, reduce back injuries, and help you to stay fit well into old age. You will not only look and feel better, but the quality of your stamina and energy will also be affected positively.
You don’t need expensive machines to start working on the core muscle exercise tips that were outlined here; you just need a simple mat and determination.
